NUR 112 - Introduction to Professional Nursing and the Nursing Process
Provides licensed practical nurses with the opportunity to explore evidence-based nursing practice through research and discussion. Students explore the transition from practical nursing practice to professional nursing practice. Students discuss concepts of team communication and leadership roles. The course emphasizes the nursing process as a scientific method to assess health concerns and provide nursing intervention in the care of both adults and children, teaching families to promote safe, high quality, patient-centered nursing care. Special Requirement: Open to Associate Degree Nursing Program, Mobility Option II students only. Successful completion of a Practical Nursing Program. Prereq: ENG 101; PSY 101: PSY 217; SOC 101; A gradeof C+ or better in BIO 215 within the last 5 years or agrade of B or better in BIO 194 within the last 5 years;and a grade of C+ or better in BIO 216 within the last 5years.
