A sociological examination of the nature, structure, causes, and consequences of social problems, with a particular focus on their interconnections. The course uses major theoretical frameworks to examine social problems at both the micro and macro level. The course investigates a variety of social problems, with a focus on problems in the United States. The course examines how to define and distinguish social problems from social issues. Prereq: SOC 101 or SOC 106
